Our Nursery is only available to those on church property.
Nursery facilities are available to children up to and including two years of age. When children turn three*, they move to either Genesis Children’s Church on Sunday mornings and Rainbows (girls only) or Pioneers Clubs (boys only) on Wednesday nights.
For health and safety reasons, we only accept children who are well.
We only allow screened and scheduled volunteers to serve in the nursery. We ask that you do not enter the nursery unless you have been alerted by the nursery staff that you are needed, you need to nurse or wish to change your child.
Please pick up your child promptly after the church service as a courtesy to our volunteers:
- Sunday, 2nd Service – no later than 1 pm
- Wednesday Night – no later than 8:30 pm
Our nursery staff consists of volunteer workers who have a personal relationship with the Lord and model loving care. Please remember to be patient and kind, for they are volunteers serving unto the Lord. So please extend to them love and kindness as they also serve our children.
Our earnest prayer is that God will bless our efforts as we care for your little ones. We want our nursery to help your child take his/her first steps toward God!
*Must be fully potty-trained to move up at age 3
What to Bring
· Please remember to bring diapers, bottles, pacifiers, and a change of clothes for your child. Your diaper bags and all personal items should be labeled with both the parent/guardian and child’s name.
Signing In & Checking Out
· Upon your arrival at the nursery, you will be asked to sign your child in at the gate (we ask that parents honor the gate and do not climb over to enter the Nursery).
· First time visitors will be asked to fill out an information card for your child.
· When a parent is needed during church services, the parent will be notified by the nursery staff.
· Our policy for signing in or checking out a child is as follows: Parents or legal guardians only - siblings will not be permitted to sign your child out of Nursery.
Health Standards
· We will not be able to accept a child with a fever, persistent cough, diarrhea, or other signs of illness. If any of these symptoms develop while your child is in the nursery, we will notify you. Please help us to keep our nursery a healthy place for all babies and toddlers.
Nursery Team
· The nursery team consists of coordinators and approved volunteers who work on a rotating schedule. We ask that you do not enter our nursery unless you have been scheduled, summoned or need to nurse/change your child. Limiting access to our nursery provides a quieter and safer place for the children who are under our care.
Parent Commitment
· Once you begin to regularly attend The Mission Church and use the nursery, you will be approached for screening and then scheduled to serve in the Nursery. The schedule is on a monthly basis and will be e-mailed to all volunteers, posted in the nursery, and copies will be in the front lobby of the church in The Mission Church Ministry Resource Center.
· Please keep in mind that the effectiveness of our Nursery depends on everyone’s participation, timeliness and faithfulness.
Medications
· Under no circumstances are nursery volunteers allowed to administer any type of medications. This includes diaper cream and baby powder. If your child requires any medication or has special needs, please check frequently on your child.
Discipline Policy
· Under no circumstances do we physically discipline a child; we gently correct and affirm good behavior.
· Parents will be promptly notified of any disruptive behavior.
Diaper Changing and Potty Training
· If your child needs a diaper change we will change their diaper (unless asked not to). We will do our best to assist your child with potty training.
· Please be sure to remember to bring a spare change of clothing for your potty trainer.
Bottles and Snacks
· We will gladly give prepared bottles of milk or juice to your child. As a snack, we will provide crackers for children on solid food unless asked not to.
Nursing Mothers
· For your comfort and privacy, we have a designated area for nursing mothers inside the Nursery.
